Dell, MSI and ASUS have all announced gaming series laptops utilizing the new Intel Core I7 mobile processors. Dell announced the Alienware M15x, MSI announced their GT740 and GT640 and ASUS announced their G and M series laptops. After recently purchasing a Dell Studio XPS desktop with the Core I7 920, I am constantly impressed by how fast it is. It will be interesting to see if these laptops offer the same speed and their desktop equivalents.

Gizmodo has news of a secret tablet or “booklet” device that Microsoft has been working on. While everyone and their mother has been watching and waiting for Apple to release a tablet, MS has been quietly developing what looks to me to be an amazing device. Using dual 7” or so multitouch screens, the Courier is designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus, as well as fingers. It also has a camera on the back. Check out more pictures and more information at Gizmodo.

Microsoft’s new Zune HD is available starting today. The touchscreen PMP has many new features such as FM HD radio, 720p video output from an optional dock, new finger friendly interface NVIDIA Tegra HD CPU an OLED screen and much more. Comparisons to the IPod Touch are being made but one major difference will be that Microsoft is not going to release a Zune SDK. What that means is that 3rd party apps are not going to be flying in to the Zune Marketplace like they did to Apple’s App Store. MS has promised a Facebook and Twitter app by November, and will have some games made available. The MS press release is here and engadget does an unboxing and hands on here. The Zune HD looks very promising, but I think that for Microsoft to compete has to release an SDK and allow people to make a ton of apps.

Apparently ASUS has not decided to scrap the T91 altogether but instead follow it up with a multi-touch version, called the T91MT (not the T91A as reported before). It sports a 32Gb SSD (solid state drive) and its price will be at $549 or around EUR 399.
This article at ars technica is reason for concern. Are they trying to re-define broadband? Are they going to charge you extra if you’re a gamer? Wouldn’t that include consoles as well as PC gaming?
